Two people were injured when three motorcycle-borne assailants opened fire at actor Tiger Shroff’s car near Juhu in Mumbai on October 18, prompting a police investigation into claims that the Lawrence Bishnoi gang was involved. Shroff escaped without bullet injuries but suffered minor abrasions from shattered glass, while his driver and a bystander were injured.
The firing took place around 7pm as Shroff was leaving Pushpa Narsee Park, also known as Jamnabai Nursery, after a birthday gathering. The location was about 350 metres from Juhu police station. According to the report, the attackers fired seven rounds at the actor’s car before fleeing towards SV Road and Vile Parle railway station. One accomplice was reportedly waiting on a motorcycle.
A video circulating on social media appeared to show one of the shooters’ guns jamming while he attempted to fire another round at close range. The authenticity and evidentiary status of the video were not established in the supplied report.
Shroff’s driver, identified as Firdaus, suffered a bullet injury to his hand. A 35-year-old bystander, identified as Umesh Charan, was shot in the chest. Both injured people were taken to hospital for treatment. The report did not provide further details about their medical condition.
Police have formed 15 teams to trace the shooters and are examining CCTV footage from the area to identify those involved. The incident occurred close to a police station and along a busy urban corridor connecting Juhu with SV Road and Vile Parle, bringing the investigation into security around public venues and crowded neighbourhood roads.
After the firing, two men identifying themselves as Anil Pandit and Harman Sandhu claimed responsibility in a social media post attributed to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Pandit claimed that Shroff had previously been warned and had ignored the warning. The message also threatened people in Mumbai’s film industry who work with actor Salman Khan.
In an audio message shared by the Mumbai Crime Branch, Pandit allegedly demanded that Salman Khan apologise to Lawrence Bishnoi and the Bishnoi community, and threatened the actor and his family if he did not comply. Police are investigating the authenticity of the claims and whether the alleged gang was involved in the firing.
The incident has also brought renewed attention to the locations of Lawrence Bishnoi and his younger brother Anmol Bishnoi. Lawrence Bishnoi is lodged in Gujarat’s Sabarmati Central Jail, while Anmol Bishnoi is lodged in Delhi’s Tihar Jail after being deported from the United States in November 2025. Anmol is an accused in the murder of former Maharashtra minister and NCP leader Baba Siddique, who was shot dead in Mumbai in October 2024. He was also taken into custody in a case concerning an alleged nexus between criminal gangs in India and the Babbar Khalsa International organisation.
The police investigation is continuing, with CCTV examination and efforts by the 15 teams to identify and trace the shooters listed as the immediate next steps.
