Mumbai Police have formed 15 teams, including Crime Branch personnel, to trace three motorcycle-borne assailants who allegedly opened fire at a BMW in Juhu, while investigators examine a purported audio threat targeting actor Salman Khan and his family.
The firing took place around 7pm on Sunday near Pushpa Narsee Park, also known as Jamnabai Nursery, after actor Tiger Shroff left a birthday gathering. According to the Times of India report, the attackers fired multiple rounds at the vehicle before fleeing on a motorcycle. Seven rounds were reportedly fired.
Shroff escaped without gunshot injuries but suffered minor abrasions from shattered glass. His driver, identified as Firdaus, sustained a bullet injury to his left hand, while a passerby was also injured. The incident has placed a busy area of Mumbai’s western suburbs under investigation as police work to reconstruct the attack and identify those responsible.
The reported attack was followed by the circulation of a social-media post in which Anil Pandit and another individual, identified as Harman Sandhu, allegedly claimed responsibility. The post said Shroff had been warned against working with Salman Khan and threatened others in Mumbai’s film industry who did not comply with the group’s demands. The authenticity of the post and the claims made in it are being verified by police.
A separate audio recording, described in the report as purportedly featuring Pandit, also surfaced after the shooting. The speaker allegedly demanded that Salman Khan apologise to jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and the Bishnoi community. The recording included threats against Khan’s family and warned him not to rely solely on his security arrangements. The Mumbai Crime Branch shared the audio, according to the report, but its authenticity has not been established.
The case highlights the immediate challenge faced by investigators when a physical attack is accompanied by digital claims of responsibility. Police must establish whether the people named in the posts and audio are connected to the shooting, whether the messages were intended to direct or amplify the attack, and whether rival groups were attempting to use established names for publicity. The available report does not establish those links.
Investigators are examining CCTV footage and forensic evidence to determine the sequence of events and identify the shooters. The reported use of multiple attackers, a waiting motorcycle and gunfire in a public area has made the recovery and analysis of physical evidence central to the inquiry.
The next steps are expected to include tracing the motorcycle-borne suspects, verifying the audio and social-media material, and establishing the identities and roles of those involved. Police have not yet confirmed arrests or authenticated the threats described in the report.
