Hyderabad Speeds Up KBR Park One-Way Works and Flyover

KBR Park flyover construction and junction works near Jubilee Hills in Hyderabad

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has ordered faster junction improvement works around KBR Park to facilitate one-way traffic flow, while construction activity on a proposed 4.3-km elevated corridor in the area is also being accelerated.

The works cover the KBR Park main entrance, Agrasen statue junction and Jubilee Hills checkpost. The junctions differ in size and will undergo changes intended to support one-way movement around the park and allow vehicles to change lanes more safely, according to a report by Deccan Chronicle.

The most significant modifications are planned at Agrasen statue junction, along with changes to traffic islands at Filmnagar and Road No. 45. The works are part of the junction improvement measures being undertaken to reorganise traffic movement around KBR Park.

GHMC commissioner R.V. Karnan inspected the proposed elevated corridor from Jubilee Hills checkpost to NFCL junction with civic officials on Thursday. During the inspection, officials reviewed the progress of foundation excavations and the junction improvement works associated with the project.

The elevated corridor is being executed at a reported cost of ₹1,090 crore. The agency responsible for construction was instructed to immediately begin geotechnical investigations on the Mugdha junction-NFCL junction stretch. These investigations will support the foundation design for that part of the corridor.

The sequence of works places traffic management changes and flyover construction alongside each other. Junction alterations at the KBR Park entrance, Agrasen statue, Filmnagar and Road No. 45 are intended to enable one-way traffic flow, while foundation-related activity continues along the elevated corridor alignment.

For road users, the planned changes concern lane movement and junction operations around one of Hyderabad’s busy urban corridors. The available information does not specify a completion date for either the junction works or the elevated corridor. The GHMC’s immediate next steps are to accelerate the junction improvements and commence geotechnical investigations for the Mugdha junction-NFCL junction section.
