Telangana’s voter registration camps are giving eligible citizens whose names are missing from the draft electoral roll an opportunity to enrol before the final rolls are prepared, with Form 6 submissions scheduled at designated polling station locations on October 16.
The special camps were conducted across the State on Thursday by the Telangana Chief Electoral Office as part of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The programme also sought to identify and remove ineligible entries through prescribed procedures, according to a press release cited by Telangana Today.
Additional Chief Electoral Officer Dr Vasam Venkateswar Reddy inspected several camps in the Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency in Hyderabad. The inspection focused on the arrangements being made to support registration and ensure that eligible electors are included in the electoral roll.
Officials said electors who find that their names have been excluded from the draft roll can visit the designated polling station location and submit Form 6 to seek enrolment in the final electoral rolls. Form 6 is used by eligible citizens to apply for inclusion as electors.
The drive also provides an opportunity for young electors to register. The Election Commission’s electoral-roll revision process requires eligible residents to check their details and follow the prescribed procedures where their names are absent or corrections are needed.
The camps place the responsibility for checking the draft roll and submitting an application close to the polling-station level, allowing residents to approach designated officials in their local areas. The Telangana Chief Electoral Office has not announced in the supplied report how many applications were received during Thursday’s camps or how many names were found to be missing from the draft roll.
Eligible electors are expected to use the October 16 opportunity to submit Form 6 at the designated polling station locations. The applications will be considered as part of the process for preparing the final electoral rolls.
