An ACB bribe trap in Telangana has led to the arrest of Vemulawada rural Tahsildar Md. Abubakar and Bhu Bharati operator Sankasala Anil Kumar, who were allegedly involved in accepting Rs 8,000 from a complainant seeking registration of a gift deed for agricultural land.
According to Anti-Corruption Bureau police, the tahsildar demanded Rs 10,000 from the victim to facilitate registration of the gift deed. The document concerned agricultural land belonging to the complainant’s aunt and was to be registered in the name of the complainant’s father, the ACB said.
The complainant was unable to pay the demanded amount and approached the ACB. After receiving the complaint, ACB personnel planned a trap operation, according to the report. Anil Kumar was caught while accepting Rs 8,000 on the alleged instructions of the tahsildar.
The action places two officials associated with the local land-registration process under arrest. The Bhu Bharati operator was identified by the ACB as the person who accepted the money, while the tahsildar was accused of demanding the larger amount and directing the transaction.
Both Abubakar and Anil Kumar were arrested and produced before the ACB court in Karimnagar, the report said. The supplied account does not provide details of the court’s subsequent directions, the sections invoked, or whether the accused sought bail.
The case concerns the processing of a gift deed involving agricultural land, making the alleged transaction relevant to citizens who depend on revenue and land-administration offices for property documentation. The ACB action also highlights the role of intermediaries or operators in interactions between applicants and officials, although the supplied report does not establish whether similar complaints had previously been made against either accused.
Local people reportedly celebrated Abubakar’s arrest by bursting crackers in front of the tahsildar’s office. The report does not include a response from the tahsildar, the Bhu Bharati operator or their legal representatives to the allegations. The matter will proceed through the ACB court process.
