GMR Aero Technic Hyderabad to Build New Aircraft Cabin Centre

GMR Aero Technic Hyderabad aircraft maintenance facility supporting cabin interior work

GMR Aero Technic has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with France-based UUDS Aero to develop advanced aircraft cabin interior capabilities at its Hyderabad facility, creating an integrated centre for design, certification, repair and manufacturing services.

The proposed Integrated Cabin Excellence Center will be established at GMR Aero Technic’s Hyderabad facility. The partnership will cover the design, modification, certification, repair, retrofit, refurbishment, manufacturing and installation of aircraft cabin interiors, according to the announcement.

The initiative brings together UUDS Aero’s expertise in cabin interior design, engineering, certification and production with GMR Aero Technic’s existing Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul infrastructure and operational capabilities. The companies said the centre is intended to provide airlines and aircraft operators with a wider range of cabin interior services from a single facility.

For Hyderabad’s aviation infrastructure, the agreement adds a specialised cabin-services component to the city’s existing aerospace and aircraft maintenance activity. Unlike routine aircraft servicing, cabin interior work involves multiple stages, including design changes, certification, refurbishment and installation. The announced scope places these functions within a coordinated facility rather than limiting the partnership to a single repair or retrofit service.

The collaboration is also positioned to support customers in India and international markets. GMR Aero Technic said the combined capabilities would allow it to offer integrated cabin solutions, while UUDS Aero will contribute its design, engineering, certification and production expertise. The announcement did not specify the investment, construction timeline, expected capacity, number of jobs or the airlines that may use the proposed centre.

Ashok Gopinath, president and Accountable Manager of GMR Aero Technic, described the collaboration as an important milestone in strengthening the company’s aircraft cabin interior capabilities. He said the partnership would combine UUDS Aero’s design and certification expertise with GMR Aero Technic’s MRO capabilities to deliver cabin solutions to customers across India and international markets.

The agreement comes through an MoU, which sets out the intended collaboration but does not, in the information available, establish a completed facility or confirm an operational launch date. Further details on the centre’s implementation, approvals, investment and service capacity will determine how quickly the proposed capability becomes available to aircraft operators.
