Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has urged young people and business federations to build companies, create jobs and help the state reach its stated goal of becoming a USD 3 trillion economy by 2047, while outlining a three-zone development model centred on Hyderabad and its surrounding regions.
Speaking after inaugurating the Samakhya Chamber of Commerce in Hyderabad on Wednesday, Reddy said the state government was targeting a USD 1 trillion economy by 2034 and a USD 3 trillion economy by 2047. He appealed to investors and business organisations to partner with the government to implement the Telangana Rising 2047 vision.
The proposed framework divides the state into CURE, PURE and RARE zones. CURE, or Core Urban Region Economy, covers the area within Hyderabad’s Outer Ring Road and is intended to remain a hub for information technology and services. The area between the Outer Ring Road and the proposed Regional Ring Road has been designated PURE, or Peri-Urban Region Economy, with a focus on manufacturing, industrial parks and logistics.
RARE, or Rural Agriculture Region Economy, will cover the state’s rural areas and focus on agriculture, food processing, agro-based industries and rural employment. The zoning approach places Hyderabad’s existing services economy, its expanding peri-urban belt and rural production areas within one broader economic planning framework.
Reddy said Telangana wanted to raise the state’s contribution to India’s gross domestic product to 10 per cent from the current five per cent. He also said the state government was seeking to position Telangana as a global investment destination through the Telangana Rising 2047 vision document unveiled in 2025.
The Chief Minister’s remarks also focused on entrepreneurship and ownership. Referring to Indian-origin executives such as Microsoft chief executive Satya Nadella, Adobe chief executive Shantanu Narayen and World Bank President Ajay Banga, he said Indian professionals had achieved senior positions in global companies but needed to build and own more companies themselves.
Reddy pointed to Skyroot Aerospace founder Pawan Chandana, who was present at the event, as an example of the kind of enterprise the state wants to encourage. He said the emergence of companies such as Skyroot had strengthened Telangana’s profile and added that the creation of 10 such companies would strengthen the regional economy.
Women’s participation in the workforce was another part of the development agenda outlined at the event. Reddy said countries with high economic growth had more than 50 per cent of women participating in the workforce, while that share was lower in India. He called for greater support for women entrepreneurs.
According to the Chief Minister, the state government has facilitated bank linkages worth Rs 61,000 crore for women’s self-help groups, which have 67 lakh members. The government has also enabled self-help groups to purchase buses and lease them to the state-run Road Transport Corporation.
Reddy said his government had not scrapped beneficial policy initiatives introduced by the Bharat Rashtra Samithi government between 2014 and December 2023. He also said earlier governments had continued useful policies across changes in administration, presenting policy continuity as an important condition for investment.
He assured investors that the government would provide support and protection through investor-friendly policies. The next stage of the Telangana Rising 2047 programme will depend on how the proposed economic zones are translated into land-use planning, industrial infrastructure, logistics capacity and employment opportunities across the Hyderabad region and the wider state.
