Tirumala security has been intensified across the ghat roads and surrounding areas as devotees arrive for the Navaratri Brahmotsavams, with Tirupati district police deploying bomb detection teams and dog squads to conduct regular checks.
The arrangements were ordered by Tirupati district superintendent of police L. Subba Rayudu, who said personnel were maintaining surveillance on both the uphill and downhill ghat roads, as well as at key locations around Tirumala. The deployment is intended to prevent untoward incidents during the festival.
According to the police, bomb detection teams and dog squads are checking suspicious objects, vehicles and other important locations. Personnel are also monitoring vehicles travelling along the ghat roads, routes leading to Tirumala and other areas classified by the police as sensitive.
The security operation places the ghat roads at the centre of the festival’s crowd-management and public-safety arrangements. These roads are the principal access routes for pilgrims travelling between Tirupati and Tirumala, making vehicle surveillance and rapid identification of suspicious activity an important part of the police deployment.
Police personnel are coordinating the arrangements to protect devotees visiting Tirumala for the Brahmotsavams. Rayudu appealed to pilgrims to follow security instructions and cooperate with personnel stationed along the routes and at locations around the hill shrine.
The superintendent of police also asked devotees to report suspicious objects, movements or emergencies on the ghat roads or in Tirumala immediately. Pilgrims can dial 112 for emergency police assistance.
Police personnel will remain on alert throughout the festival, Rayudu said. The ongoing checks will cover vehicles, access routes and other important locations identified by the security teams during the Brahmotsavams.
