The Mumbai Police has identified specific suspects in the firing incident involving actor Tiger Shroff in Juhu, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Monday, adding that the accused and their alleged handlers would be traced and arrested. The police have registered a case of attempt to murder against three unidentified people and transferred the investigation to the Crime Branch.
Fadnavis described the incident as serious and condemnable, saying the Mumbai Police had obtained clues and was actively working on the case. He said some individuals had already been identified and would be arrested soon, according to a report by Mid-Day citing his remarks at a press conference.
The firing took place on Sunday evening in Mumbai’s Juhu area. The actor escaped unhurt, while his driver and another person were injured, the report said. Fadnavis added that he had spoken to Shroff and assured him that the government had taken the incident seriously. Security would also be provided to the actor, he said.
The Chief Minister said the alleged masterminds were operating from outside Maharashtra or outside India. He said the state government would coordinate with the relevant state authorities and seek assistance from the Central Government to trace those involved beyond Maharashtra’s jurisdiction.
“Specific individuals have already been identified and they will be arrested very soon,” Fadnavis said, according to the report. He also said the police would pursue those allegedly issuing instructions from elsewhere and take strict action against them.
A social media post attributed responsibility for the attack to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, but the Mumbai Police has not verified the authenticity of that claim. The allegation therefore remains unconfirmed and is not being treated as an established fact.
Fadnavis also defended the Mumbai Police against Opposition criticism of the government’s handling of law and order. He referred to earlier cases, including the 2021 bomb scare near industrialist Mukesh Ambani’s residence and alleged irregularities in police transfers and postings under the previous government. Those remarks formed part of a broader political exchange over policing and public safety.
The case is now with the Crime Branch, while the police continue efforts to identify and apprehend the suspects. The next reported steps are the arrests of those identified and coordination with authorities in other states and, if required, the Central Government for suspects believed to be outside India.
