The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation operated 2,474 special buses across the state between October 9 and 14 for Dasara travel, while adding 227 services in Greater Hyderabad to manage the festival rush and prepare for returning passengers.
TGSRTC Managing Director Y Nagi Reddy said the corporation achieved 94.07 per cent of its target for special services during the period. Khammam recorded the highest performance against its target at 133.33 per cent, followed by Medak at 123.15 per cent and Adilabad at 116.90 per cent, according to a statement issued by the corporation.
Passenger demand exceeded early projections on October 10. TGSRTC operated 689 special buses that day against a planned 529, reflecting an increase of 160 buses over the scheduled deployment. The additional services were arranged as passenger traffic rose during the festival period.
Greater Hyderabad received 227 additional buses as part of the response. The deployment is significant for the capital region, which functions as a major origin and destination point for intercity and district-level travel during festivals. TGSRTC has also planned special services for passengers returning to Hyderabad after the Dasara holidays.
Nagi Reddy directed officials to conduct daily field-level reviews and operate additional services wherever necessary on October 16 and 17. The reviews are intended to help the corporation respond to demand on routes used by passengers travelling back to the city after the festivities.
Passengers can book tickets for available services through the TGSRTC website, www.tgsrtcbus.in. The corporation has also provided its call centre numbers, 040-69440000 and 040-23450033, for information about special buses and schedules.
The latest deployment places the focus on the return phase of festival travel, when demand can shift rapidly between district routes and Hyderabad-bound services. TGSRTC’s field reviews on October 16 and 17 will determine where further buses are required, according to the corporation’s statement.
