The Telangana Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGSPDCL) has promised faster action on electricity-related problems faced by industries, including supply reliability, tariff concerns, delayed payment surcharges and net metering. The assurance was given by CMD Jitesh V. Patil at the utility’s sixth stakeholders’ meeting in Hyderabad on Saturday.
The meeting was held at the FTCCI Surana Auditorium at Federation House, where Patil interacted with representatives of various industries and discussed operational issues affecting the industrial sector. He said TGSPDCL would review the concerns raised by industry representatives and take necessary steps to resolve them.
The discussions covered the reliability of power supply, electricity tariff-related matters, the reduction of delayed payment surcharges, solar power generation and net metering issues. Representatives also discussed the possible appointment of dedicated relationship managers for High Tension industrial consumers, who depend on specialised support for electricity connections and operational requirements.
Patil said the utility would seek to understand the requirements of industries while addressing their electricity-related concerns. He emphasised that continuous dialogue and coordination between the power department and industrial users could help identify problems at an early stage and support their timely resolution.
The meeting also reviewed the progress of pending issues raised during the previous stakeholders’ meeting. Further action plans and timelines for resolving those matters were discussed, although the report did not specify the individual deadlines or the number of issues that remain pending.
For industrial consumers, reliability and predictability in electricity supply affect day-to-day operations, while tariff-related matters and payment surcharges influence the cost of maintaining connections. The inclusion of solar generation and net metering in the discussions also reflects the operational questions industries face when they seek to supplement grid electricity with renewable power.
The proposed relationship-manager arrangement for High Tension consumers would create a dedicated contact point between large industrial users and the distribution utility if implemented. The meeting did not confirm the number of relationship managers, the industries to be covered or the date by which the arrangement would begin.
TGSPDCL said resolving industry-related issues would require coordinated efforts by the power department, industrial associations and individual companies. Patil said the utility would continue considering suggestions and feedback from industry representatives while working to make the power supply system more efficient and reliable.
The stakeholders’ meeting is part of an ongoing consultation process between TGSPDCL and the industrial sector. The next steps are the review of the concerns raised, implementation of the discussed action plans and monitoring of the timelines agreed for pending matters.
