The Railway Protection Force has strengthened security and crowd-management arrangements at Secunderabad Railway Station ahead of the festival rush, adding personnel, helpline booths, surveillance and four holding areas that can accommodate a combined 2,000 passengers.
The measures have been introduced by the RPF, Secunderabad, to support smoother passenger movement and improve safety at the station during the expected increase in travel. Additional RPF personnel will be deployed at critical points, including foot overbridges, entry and exit gates, along with Government Railway Police staff and home guards.
Passenger helpline booths have been established at Platform No. 1 and Platform No. 10. The booths are intended to provide assistance to travellers during the rush and help direct passengers within the station complex.
Four holding areas have also been designated, with a combined capacity of 2,000 passengers. These spaces will be used as part of the station’s crowd-management arrangements, allowing passenger movement to be regulated during periods of heavier footfall.
The RPF is also enhancing surveillance by installing additional closed-circuit television cameras. Access control is being tightened, with entry into the station premises and platforms restricted to passengers carrying valid tickets.
Quick Response Teams will remain on standby as part of the emergency preparedness arrangements. The teams are intended to respond to security or operational situations that may arise during the festival travel period.
The arrangements were outlined by B S Sarswat, Inspector of the Railway Protection Force at Secunderabad, according to Telangana Today. The deployment covers passenger movement points, access areas and other critical locations within the station, with the RPF coordinating with the GRP and home guards.
