According to the report, Eastern Railway announced the cancellations in a notice issued on Friday. The railway cited the expectation of heavy traffic around the two Delhi railway stations as the reason for cancelling the services. The congestion risk has been linked to a protest scheduled at Jantar Mantar on October 10.
A communication published on the Sealdah Divisional Railway Manager’s Facebook page said train 12313 had been cancelled because of the anticipated traffic conditions around New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin stations. The message referred specifically to passenger safety and convenience while explaining the decision for the October 9 service.
The cancellation comes as a significant disruption for passengers using one of the principal rail links between Kolkata and Delhi. Rajdhani Express services are scheduled long-distance trains, and their cancellation can affect onward travel arrangements, connecting transport and hotel or appointment plans for passengers reaching Delhi.
