Rajamahendravaram Electrocution Kills Two During CCTV Work

Electrical wires over a street in Rajamahendravaram linked to a CCTV installation electrocution incident

Two persons died after being electrocuted while installing CCTV cameras in Rajavol near Rajamahendravaram in Andhra Pradesh’s East Godavari district, police said on October 8.

The deceased were identified as Surya Rao, 50, a resident of Rajavol, and Chinna Krishna Reddy, 55, a contractor from Netaji Nagar Bommur. According to the police, the two men were moving an iron stand when it came into contact with live electric wires.

Both men died on the spot. The incident occurred while the CCTV cameras were being installed, although the available report does not specify the location of the installation or provide details about the ownership of the electrical lines.

The deaths highlight the immediate safety risks involved when metal structures and equipment are handled near overhead or exposed electrical wires during construction, surveillance or maintenance work. The report does not state whether any safety clearance had been obtained before the iron stand was moved.

Police identified the victims and confirmed the circumstances of the incident. No further details about an investigation, safety inspection or action by the electricity authorities were available in the report.
