BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao has alleged irregularities in the ₹3,296-crore tender process for Hyderabad’s Radial Road-2 and asked Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to cancel the tender immediately.
In an open letter to the Chief Minister, Rama Rao alleged that some firms were favoured and awarded contracts after lower bidders were disqualified. The allegations concern the selection process for an 81.15-km greenfield expressway planned from the Outer Ring Road at Budvel to NH-167N near Kodangal.
The project has been divided into three packages. Rama Rao questioned whether the tender process was transparent and whether technical eligibility criteria were applied uniformly to all participating companies. He alleged that certain firms were excluded on technical grounds while contracts were awarded to preferred bidders.
A central point in his letter was the speed of the tender evaluation. Rama Rao said the tender process and selection of contractors had been completed in around five working days, despite the project’s size and complexity. He questioned how 13 bids for the three-package road project could have been evaluated and processed within such a short period.
The proposed road is a major greenfield link extending from Budvel on the Outer Ring Road towards NH-167N near Kodangal. The supplied report does not provide details of the appointed contractors, the individual value of each package, the technical disqualifications or the government’s response to the allegations.
Rama Rao has demanded that the government disclose the complete financial details for all three packages. His list includes the estimated project costs, prices quoted by bidders, comparative statements prepared during evaluation and the final contract values.
He has also sought cancellation of the tender, placing the process under scrutiny before contract implementation proceeds. The allegations remain claims made by the BRS leader; the supplied report does not cite an official inquiry, audit finding or court order establishing that a scam occurred.
The next step sought by Rama Rao is an immediate decision by the Chief Minister on whether to cancel the tender and disclose the financial and comparative bid documents for all three packages.
