Pune Housing Lottery Deadline Extended as 5,984 Certificates Await Verification

Pune housing lottery applicants completing documents for a MHADA housing application

The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) has extended the deadline for online applications to its Pune Board housing lottery by one week, giving applicants until October 22 to complete the process. The extension is the second granted for the lottery, which includes homes under the board’s 15% Social Housing and 20% Inclusive Housing schemes.

The earlier deadline was October 15. MHADA said the additional time was required because the online verification of domicile and income certificates has been running behind schedule. Applicants whose documents remain under verification can now use the extended window to complete their applications.

According to Shivajirao Adhalrao Patil, chairman of the MHADA Pune Board, 1,65,028 applicants have registered for the lottery so far. Of these, 1,01,811 applicants have also paid the application deposit, indicating that a substantial number of registrations have progressed beyond the initial application stage.

Patil said 3,872 domicile certificates and 2,142 income certificates are still awaiting verification. Together, the pending documents total 5,984, and the backlog was cited as the reason for extending the application deadline. The verification process is central to determining whether applicants meet the eligibility requirements for the relevant housing categories.

The lottery’s inclusion of Social Housing and Inclusive Housing schemes places document verification at the centre of the application process. Domicile certificates establish an applicant’s eligibility linked to residence requirements, while income certificates are used to assess eligibility under income-based housing provisions. The authority’s decision gives applicants with pending documents more time, but the supplied information does not specify when the verification backlog will be cleared or when the lottery draw will take place.

The extended deadline is October 22. Applicants with documents still under verification must complete the remaining application requirements by that date, while MHADA’s Pune Board continues processing the pending domicile and income certificates.
