The Kasara railway block scheduled from October 14 to 16 has disrupted several long-distance services from Mumbai, with Central Railway cancelling two Duronto Express trains, diverting five trains through Pune and revising the departure times of multiple services.
The disruption affects passengers travelling on routes connecting Mumbai with northern, central and eastern parts of India. Among the major services affected are the Howrah–Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and CSMT–Howrah Duronto Express trains.
Five trains will use the Kalyan–Karjat–Pune–Manmad route instead of their regular paths during the block. The diverted services are the CSMT–Gorakhpur Antyodaya Express, Dadar–Ballia Express, CSMT–Jabalpur Garib Rath Express, Dadar–Gorakhpur Express and CSMT–Nagpur Sevagram Express.
The revised schedule also changes the departure time of the CSMT–Howrah Duronto Express. The train, which was originally scheduled to leave at 5.15 pm on October 15, will now depart at 12.20 am on October 16. The CSMT–New Delhi Rajdhani Express will also leave later than usual on October 14 and 15.
Some services on the Mumbai–Pune and Mumbai–Nashik corridors may also experience delays. The Shirdi–CSMT Vande Bharat and Nanded–CSMT Tapovan Express services are expected to run around 15 to 25 minutes behind schedule, according to the revised information reported by Pune Mirror.
Several trains originating at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus have been rescheduled. On October 14, the LTT–Gorakhpur Express will depart at 5.50 pm instead of 4.35 pm. The LTT–Sitapur Express will leave at 5.35 pm, against its earlier departure time of 4.25 pm, while the LTT–Dhanbad Express will start at 6.05 pm instead of 4.55 pm.
Further changes are scheduled for October 15. The LTT–Gorakhpur, LTT–Rani Kamalapati and LTT–Chhapra Express services will also depart later than their original timings. The changes mean that passengers may face longer journeys or altered connections, particularly on trains diverted through Pune and Manmad.
The Kasara section is a key rail link for services travelling north from the Mumbai region. A block on this route can therefore affect trains that do not originate or terminate in Pune, as diversions through the Kalyan–Karjat–Pune–Manmad corridor change both the route and operating sequence of long-distance services.
Passengers travelling during the block period have been advised to check the latest train timings, platform information and route updates through official railway channels before leaving for the station. The revised schedules apply to services operating on October 14, 15 and 16, and passengers should verify their individual train status before beginning their journey.
