Nickel-Based Superalloy Facility Gets Veteran CEO in Telangana

Nickel-based superalloy facility planned by Raghu Vamsi Group in Telangana

Raghu Vamsi Group has appointed former Mishra Dhatu Nigam Ltd. chairman and managing director S.K. Jha as chief executive officer of its Advanced Materials Division, which will lead the development of an integrated nickel-based superalloy manufacturing facility in Telangana.

The group, which focuses on precision aerospace and defence manufacturing, said the appointment would bring more than three decades of experience in metallurgy, advanced materials, technology development and strategic manufacturing to the division. Jha will oversee the advanced materials business and the planned facility.

The facility is designed to bring several stages of specialised production under one roof, including vacuum melting, forging, heat treatment, vacuum casting, powder metallurgy and precision forming. The group said it is expected to produce round bars, wires, forgings, castings, tungsten carbide powders and other specialised products.

Commercial production is expected to begin in January 2028, according to the group. Raghu Vamsi had announced plans for the facility in Telangana at the Farnborough International Airshow 2026, where it outlined its intention to expand into the manufacture of advanced strategic materials.

Nickel-based superalloys are used in aero engines, defence systems, spacecraft, gas turbines and nuclear power systems. Their production involves specialised processing and quality-control capabilities, making the proposed facility relevant to the domestic supply of materials used in strategic and high-performance applications.

The group said the project is part of its strategy to increase vertical integration and strengthen domestic capabilities in strategic materials. In a statement issued on Monday, Jha said India had a strong opportunity to build greater self-reliance in materials critical to aerospace, defence and space, adding that Raghu Vamsi had the ambition and investment to develop the capability at scale.

Raghu Vamsi Group founder and managing director Vamsi Vikas Ganesula said Jha brought experience from important national programmes and would lead the advanced materials business. The appointment places the former MIDHANI chief at the centre of the company’s planned expansion from precision manufacturing into the production of specialised metals and related inputs.

The next stated milestone for the project is the start of commercial production in January 2028. The group has not provided further details in the announcement on the facility’s investment size, location within Telangana, planned employment or production capacity.
