Maharashtra voter list claims and objections can now be submitted until 26 October 2026, giving citizens additional time to add names, correct personal details and raise objections to entries in the draft electoral rolls. The final voter list will still be published on 16 November as scheduled.

The extension has been announced under the Special Summary Revision programme, which is being conducted with 1 October as the qualifying date. Maharashtra’s draft electoral roll was published on 31 August, starting the process for adding eligible voters, removing incorrect entries and correcting errors across all assembly constituencies.

The claims and objections window, originally covering 31 August to 11 October, has now been extended to 26 October. The notice and disposal of claims and objections will continue between 31 August and 10 November, according to information issued by the office of Maharashtra’s Chief Electoral Officer.

The electoral authorities have asked eligible citizens, including first-time voters, to use the additional time to check their names and details in the draft roll. Applications can be filed to add a new name, while corrections can be sought for errors involving spelling, address or age. Citizens can also submit claims or objections regarding entries that require scrutiny.

The extension comes after a recent increase in applications. According to the report, 2.83 lakh people submitted Form 6 during the nine days up to Sunday. This took the total number of applications by new voters between 31 August and 11 October to 8.33 lakh across Maharashtra.

The revision exercise has included special registration and verification camps at 1,53,000 polling stations in the state on 3, 4, 10 and 11 October. A separate drive was conducted at colleges and universities between 5 and 9 October to encourage young people and first-time voters to register.

The scale of the exercise places substantial responsibility on the election administration at the local level. Citizens with registration-related questions or complaints can contact Booth Level Officers, Assistant Electoral Registration Officers, Electoral Registration Officers and District Election Officers. The state has 1,53,000 Booth Level Officers, 7,100 Assistant Electoral Registration Officers, 288 Electoral Registration Officers and 36 District Election Officers, according to the information cited in the report.

The Chief Electoral Officer’s office has said the exercise is intended to ensure that no eligible citizen is left out of the electoral roll and that the final list is as error-free as possible. Claims and objections will be processed until 10 November, before the final Maharashtra electoral roll is issued on 16 November 2026.
