Lulu Group Plans ₹10,000 Crore More Investment in Uttar Pradesh

Lulu Group hypermarket in Greater Noida at Ithum Galleria Mall

Lulu Group plans to invest an additional ₹10,000 crore in Uttar Pradesh and is working on four new projects, chairman Yusuf Ali MA said during the opening of the group’s first hypermarket in Greater Noida. The announcement expands the company’s existing investment footprint in the state and strengthens its retail presence in the Delhi-NCR region.

The group has already invested around ₹10,000 crore in Uttar Pradesh, according to the report. Yusuf Ali said another ₹10,000 crore is being prepared for investment in the state, although the report did not specify the locations, project types, investment schedule or expected completion dates for the four proposed projects.

The new hypermarket has opened at Ithum Galleria Mall in Sector Alpha 2, Greater Noida, across approximately 100,000 square feet. It is the group’s second hypermarket presence in the state after its operations in Lucknow, and its opening extends the company’s retail network into a major urban market within the National Capital Region.

The Greater Noida outlet offers fresh produce, groceries, international products, electronics and home appliances. It also includes an in-house bakery and ready-to-eat food counters, positioning the store as a large-format destination for both daily shopping and food services.

The inauguration was attended by Uttar Pradesh minister Rakesh Sachan, who holds portfolios including khadi and village industries, silk industry, handloom and textiles, and minister of state for sugarcane development and sugar mills Sanjay Singh Gangwar. Former Union minister Syed Shahnawaz Hussain, Lulu Group chairman Yusuf Ali MA and executive director Ashraf Ali MA were also present.

The company’s proposed investment comes as Greater Noida continues to add large commercial developments alongside its residential and industrial expansion. A hypermarket of this scale requires access to a substantial customer catchment, road connectivity, parking and supporting retail infrastructure, making its location within a mall complex significant for the city’s evolving consumption geography.

The report also said that fruits, vegetables and food products are being exported from Uttar Pradesh through the group’s operations. However, it did not provide project-wise details, employment estimates, export values or the timelines for the four additional projects.

The immediate operational milestone is the opening of the Greater Noida hypermarket. Further details on the proposed ₹10,000 crore investment, including project locations, sectors and implementation schedules, are yet to be announced.
