Lulu Group Announces ₹10,000 Crore More Investment in UP

Lulu Group hypermarket at Ithum Galleria Mall in Greater Noida

Lulu Group has announced plans to invest another ₹10,000 crore in Uttar Pradesh, while opening a hypermarket spread across about 100,000 square feet at Ithum Galleria Mall in Sector Alpha 2, Greater Noida. Chairman Yusuff Ali MA said the group has already invested ₹10,000 crore in the state and is preparing four additional projects.

The announcement was made alongside the opening of the group’s new Greater Noida hypermarket. The outlet expands Lulu Group’s retail presence in the Delhi-NCR region and follows its existing operations in Uttar Pradesh, including the Lulu Mall in Lucknow.

According to the report, the Greater Noida store offers fresh produce, groceries, international products, electronics and home appliances. It also includes an in-house bakery and ready-to-eat food counters, positioning the outlet as a large-format retail destination rather than only a grocery store.

The inauguration was attended by Uttar Pradesh minister Rakesh Sachan, who holds the portfolios of Khadi and Village Industries, Silk Industry, Handloom and Textiles, and state minister Sanjay Singh Gangwar, who is responsible for Sugarcane Development and Sugar Mills. Former Union minister Syed Shahnawaz Hussain, Lulu Group chairman Yusuff Ali MA and executive director Ashraf Ali MA were also present.

The company chairman said Uttar Pradesh had already received an investment of ₹10,000 crore from the group and that another ₹10,000 crore was being prepared. He also said four more projects were in progress in the state. The report did not provide details about the locations, investment split, project types or completion timelines for these proposed developments.

The announcement places Greater Noida within Lulu Group’s expanding retail footprint in Uttar Pradesh. The new hypermarket is located in Ithum Galleria Mall, linking the investment to the growth of organised retail space in the city’s emerging commercial districts. Its product mix is also connected to wider supply networks, with the chairman stating that fruits, vegetables and food products are being exported from the state.

The scale of the announced investment and the opening of the new outlet will now depend on the company’s project-level plans and implementation schedules. No further details on the four proposed projects were provided in the report.
