Hyderabad police will deploy around 2,200 personnel, 408 CCTV cameras and two drones around the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Uppal for the India-West Indies fourth T20 international on Wednesday, with nearly 40,000 spectators expected to attend.
Malkajgiri commissioner B. Sumathi said security would be strengthened at the stadium’s entry and exit gates, player areas, dugouts and restricted zones. Four police watch teams in civilian dress will conduct surveillance inside the venue, while the camera and drone network will support security monitoring, crowd management and traffic regulation.
The match is scheduled to begin at 7 pm. Parking inside the stadium will be restricted to VVIPs, VIPs and authorised pass holders. Traffic police have identified space for approximately 8,000 vehicles outside the venue, including 4,600 four-wheelers and 3,400 two-wheelers.
Designated parking locations include Jain Properties, Modern Bakery and Agarwal Properties on Uppal-Ramanthapur Road, as well as TG IALA on Uppal-Habsiguda Road. Additional areas have been identified near NGRI Metro-Stadium Metro, Genpact T-Junction-Hindu Office, DSL Mall-Street No. 8 in Ramanthapur and the LG Godown-Chemveda Junction stretch on IDA Uppal Lane. Police said these arrangements remain subject to authorisation, and motorists have been advised to follow signboards and instructions at the site.
Spectators travelling from Tarnaka and Secunderabad have been advised to use the Tarnaka-Habsiguda-Survey of India-Uppal Junction route before proceeding to designated parking or the stadium. Those travelling from Amberpet and Ramanthapur can use the Ramanthapur-LG Godown-DSL Mall route, while spectators from LB Nagar and Nagole have been directed towards Uppal Junction.
Traffic police have also prepared diversions for heavy vehicles at Nagole U-turn near Pillar No. 814, Mehfil Junction, Habsiguda Junction and Street No. 8 in Ramanthapur. Heavy vehicles may be diverted through Bhagayath, Nallacheruvukatta, Chengicherla, Mallapur, Nacharam, Habsiguda, Tarnaka, Nagole and LB Nagar depending on their direction of travel. Motorists heading towards Moosarambagh, Dilsukhnagar and LB Nagar have been asked to follow alternate routes directed by traffic personnel.
Five She Teams will be positioned at strategic locations to prevent harassment and support women’s safety. Special police teams will also monitor suspected drug-related activity. Police said traffic could be regulated or stopped at key junctions during emergencies to enable ambulances and other emergency vehicles to pass.
The arrangements also depend on Hyderabad’s public transport network absorbing part of the post-match movement. Police have requested the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation and Metro Rail authorities to consider extended operating hours and additional services, subject to operational feasibility. Nagole Metro Station authorities have been specifically asked to consider extended timings. Airtel, Jio and Vodafone Idea have also been requested to enhance mobile network capacity wherever required.
Spectators have been advised to reach the stadium early, use public transport wherever possible, buy tickets only through authorised sources and monitor official announcements on bus services, metro timings, parking and traffic diversions.
