Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) has urged passengers to reach the airport early and plan their journeys in advance ahead of the Dasara festive weekend, warning that increased passenger traffic could lengthen travel, check-in and security times.
In an advisory issued on Thursday, the airport asked travellers to allow additional time to reach the terminal and complete airport formalities. Passengers have been advised to arrive well ahead of their scheduled departure times to avoid last-minute delays during the anticipated festive rush.
The advisory covers both access to the airport and movement through the terminal. RGIA has asked passengers travelling to and from the airport to consider app-based cabs, prepaid taxis, car rentals or the Pushpak luxury airport liner. These services are intended to give travellers multiple options for reaching the airport as road traffic and passenger demand rise during the holiday period.
The airport has also said that passenger service associates will be available on site to guide travellers and provide assistance. The support staff will help passengers navigate the terminal and address queries as traffic increases.
RGIA is located at Shamshabad, on the outskirts of Hyderabad, making journey planning an important part of air travel for passengers arriving from different parts of the city and surrounding areas. The airport’s advisory places responsibility on travellers to build additional time into their journeys rather than relying on normal travel and processing times during the festive weekend.
The warning is aimed at passengers with scheduled departures during the Dasara period. Travellers have been asked to account for the time required to reach the airport, complete check-in and pass through security before proceeding to their boarding gates. RGIA’s guidance also points passengers towards organised transport options, including the Pushpak airport bus service, prepaid taxis and app-based cab providers.
The airport has not announced any change to flight schedules in the advisory. Its immediate guidance is focused on reducing the risk of passengers missing departures because of delays on the way to the terminal or longer processing times after arrival. Passengers are expected to follow their airline’s check-in requirements while allowing extra time for the airport journey and formalities.
