Hazaribag Municipal Corporation has directed its electrical staff to keep streetlights functional and repair faults promptly across the city ahead of Durga Puja, Diwali and Chhath, when residents are expected to travel late into the evening and large crowds will gather around festive venues.
Assistant municipal commissioner Bipin Kumar said adequate lighting must be maintained on roads, in residential lanes and at major public places. He said residents should not face inconvenience while travelling because of inadequate illumination or non-functional streetlights.
The civic body’s instructions cover areas around Durga Puja pandals, where large gatherings are expected during the festive period. Officials have also been asked to ensure lighting arrangements for Diwali and Chhath, when movement across the city is expected to continue until late evening.
Electrical personnel have been instructed to remain active in their assigned areas and respond quickly to complaints about faulty streetlights. The corporation has also directed staff to avoid unnecessary delays in repairs and coordinate with one another so that lighting problems are resolved on time.
Kumar said employees facing difficulties while carrying out repair work could contact him directly for assistance. The corporation would provide the necessary support to maintain lighting arrangements throughout the festive period, according to the civic body’s instructions.
The municipal corporation said the preparations were intended to improve visibility, ease movement and support a safer and more convenient festive season for residents and visitors. The directions place responsibility on field electrical teams to monitor their assigned areas, attend complaints and keep key public locations illuminated during the celebrations.
