Greater Noida’s electric bus network has expanded to eight routes with the launch of four new services connecting residents to Noida Airport, Dankaur, Knowledge Park and Yamuna City. The expansion takes the number of electric buses operating in Greater Noida to 35, up from 25 earlier.
The new services are intended to improve public transport access across Greater Noida and neighbouring urbanising areas. The routes link residential sectors and commercial destinations with transport, education and emerging development hubs, including Noida Airport and the Yamuna City area.
According to Sunny Yadav, senior manager, Urban Services, bus numbers have been increased on routes where passenger demand was found to be higher. Regular surveys are being conducted to assess demand, and the authority plans to add more buses and routes in phases based on the findings.
The first new route will run from Sector 37 in Noida to Dankaur town via Phase 2, Pari Chowk and Bilaspur. A second service will connect Botanical Garden with Noida Airport through Advant Building, Pari Chowk and Gaur Yamuna City.
The third route will operate between Advant Building and Knowledge Park 2, passing through Knowledge Park 1, Swarn Nagri, Jagat Farm and Pari Chowk. The fourth will run from Botanical Garden to Mirzapur Cut in Yamuna City, via Advant Building and Pari Chowk.
The route expansion comes after the broader introduction of electric buses in the Noida region. A total of 100 electric buses were put on the roads in June. Of these, 50 are operating in the Noida Authority area, while 25 each are serving the areas under the Greater Noida and Yamuna authorities. With the latest additions, the number of routes in Greater Noida has doubled from four to eight.
The expansion also places charging infrastructure at the centre of the service’s operation. More than four charging stations have been established at different locations in Greater Noida, and additional stations are being developed to support timely charging and regular bus operations.
The new routes are significant for a region where major destinations are spread across large distances and development is continuing around the airport, knowledge parks and Yamuna City. For passengers, the services provide direct public transport links to locations that previously required multiple connections or other modes of travel, although the report does not provide route frequency, fares or daily operating schedules.
The authority’s next steps will depend on passenger-demand surveys and the phased addition of buses and routes. Further expansion is expected to focus on sectors and nearby towns that remain without direct public transport connectivity.
