All EMU services and express trains affected by construction work at Faridabad railway station have resumed operations after a 45-day block, restoring services for daily commuters and intercity passengers while work continues on platforms 2 and 3, according to a report by Navbharat Times – Faridabad.
The railway block had disrupted nine EMU services operating between Palwal and New Delhi and suspended the halts of 19 express trains at Old Faridabad station. Railway officials said the services and train halts were restored after the block ended, with the festive season also taken into account.
The restored EMU services include the Shahdara-Ballabhgarh shuttle, Ballabhgarh-Shahdara shuttle, Ghaziabad-Palwal service, Palwal-Shahdara services, New Delhi-Palwal services and Palwal-Ghaziabad service. The train numbers listed in the report are 64908, 64071, 64052, 64015, 64078, 64057, 64012, 64013 and 64076.
The resumption covers trains travelling in both directions through the station. Express-train halts restored towards Delhi include the Malwa Express, Grand Trunk Express, Ujjaini Express, Indore-Dehradun Express, Puri-Yog Nagari Rishikesh Express, Kerala Superfast Express, Nanded-Firozpur Express and Pune-Jammu Tawi Express.
Towards Mathura, the restored halts include the Punjab Mail, Kota Weekly Express, Amritsar-Indore Express, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra-Jabalpur Express, Andaman Express, Himsagar Express, Kurukshetra-Khajuraho Express, Haridwar-Bandra Terminus Express, Malwa Express, Firozpur-Nanded Express and Una Himachal-Indore Express. The report identifies the relevant services by train numbers, including 12919, 12615, 14309, 14317, 18477, 12625, 14621, 11077, 12138, 20986, 19326, 11450, 16032, 16318, 11842, 19020, 22918, 12920, 14622 and 19308.
The disruption was linked to the redevelopment of Old Faridabad railway station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. The project is being carried out at an estimated cost of Rs 242 crore. According to the report, building structures on both the NIT and National Highway sides of the station have been completed.
The next stage involves connecting the two buildings and placing girders for a foot overbridge. Foundations for pillars have been created at different locations on platforms 2 and 3 for this work. As a result, trains will not yet be able to stop and depart from platforms 2 and 3 for a few more days, even though the wider service block has ended.
The restoration removes the immediate service disruption for passengers using Faridabad as a daily rail interchange, but access and platform arrangements remain subject to the ongoing construction schedule. Railway officials have not indicated in the supplied report when normal operations on platforms 2 and 3 will be fully restored.
