Delhi Metro will keep the entry and exit gates of 45 stations closed from 9 pm on Friday, October 9, until 6 pm on Saturday, October 10, in view of a proposed protest at Jantar Mantar, according to a DMRC update reported by Jagran. The restriction was revised from an earlier list of 57 stations following suggestions from Delhi Police.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation said the decision was taken for security reasons. While interchange facilities will remain available at the affected stations, passengers will not be able to interchange at New Delhi Metro station during the restriction period.
The revised arrangement was issued at around 10 pm on Friday, after DMRC updated its earlier announcement. Security agencies will review the situation and issue further updates if required. The restrictions apply to the entry and exit gates of the listed stations and are scheduled to remain in place until 6 pm on Saturday.
The 45 stations are Janpath, Patel Chowk, Central Secretariat, Lok Kalyan Marg, Rajiv Chowk, New Delhi, Seva Teerth (Udyog Bhawan), Mandi House, Barakhamba Road, ITO, Delhi Gate, Khan Market, Ramakrishna Ashram Marg, Jhandewalan, Supreme Court, Indraprastha, Shivaji Stadium, Delhi Haat–INA, Hauz Khas, Jor Bagh, Lajpat Nagar, Jangpura, Ashram, Jamia Millia Islamia, Chawri Bazar, Jama Masjid, Karol Bagh, Rajendra Place, University, Kashmere Gate, Inderlok, Guru Tegh Bahadur Nagar, Netaji Subhash Place, Azadpur, Jahangirpuri, Haiderpur Badli Mor, Majlis Park, Seelampur, Maujpur-Babarpur, Jafrabad, Welcome, Yamuna Vihar, Khajuri Khas, Shahdara and Rithala.
The affected stations cover multiple corridors and interchange points across central, north, south, east and west Delhi. The closure of station gates is therefore expected to affect access for passengers travelling to or through areas around central government offices, commercial districts, educational institutions and major interchange locations. However, the report does not provide details of train frequency changes or full station-by-station operational arrangements beyond the gate closures and the exception for interchange at New Delhi.
The announcement follows a separate traffic advisory related to the proposed protest, under which 30 roads were expected to face diversions from 6 am on Saturday. Commuters using the Metro and road network have been advised, through the reported operational updates, to account for the restrictions during the specified period.
DMRC and security agencies are expected to review the situation as the protest-related arrangements continue. Any further changes to the list of stations or the duration of the restrictions will depend on subsequent security assessments and official updates.
