Chennai EMU Services Face Partial Cuts During Saturday Rail Block

Chennai EMU services at a suburban railway platform near Chengalpet

Chennai EMU services on the Chennai Beach–Chengalpet suburban route will be partially cancelled on Saturday, October 10, during an engineering and signal block at Singaperumal Koil yard, Southern Railway said.

The line block and signal block will be in force on the Chennai Egmore–Villupuram section from 11.40am to 2.40pm. The railway said the work is being carried out to support passenger safety and safe train operations.

Five services departing Chennai Beach will be partially cancelled between Kattangulathur or Guduvancheri and Chengalpet. The affected departures are scheduled at 10.13am, 10.48am, 11.28am, 12.02pm and 12.30pm.

Five services in the opposite direction, from Chengalpet to Chennai Beach, will also be partially cancelled. These trains are scheduled to leave Chengalpet at 11.50am, 12.30pm, 1.05pm, 1.35pm and 2.15pm.

For these services, the partial cancellations will apply between Chengalpet and either Kattangulathur or Guduvancheri, according to the railway announcement. The affected section covers a busy suburban rail corridor connecting Chennai with areas along the city’s southern growth belt.

The disruption is linked to ongoing engineering work rather than a full-day suspension of services. Commuters using the Chennai Beach–Chengalpet route during the affected period will need to account for the curtailed portions of these trains. Southern Railway has not provided further service details in the supplied announcement. The engineering block is scheduled to end at 2.40pm on Saturday.
