The Bengaluru Central Crime Branch (CCB) conducted a special operation in several areas under the J.J. Nagar police station limits in the western division, raiding the homes of 72 people listed as rowdy-sheeters and detaining others for questioning, according to a report by Prajavani.
The operation was carried out to control what police described as anti-social elements and criminal activities in the area. CCB personnel searched the homes of the 72 rowdy-sheeters, seized some documents and warned them against involvement in illegal activities.
Police also detained 65 habitual offenders for questioning during the operation. According to CCB sources cited in the report, 23 drug peddlers and customers were also detained and questioned.
The operation included checks beyond residential premises. Police inspected 270 vehicles, raided and checked 29 bars, and searched 72 locations identified as areas where criminal activities were more frequently reported, the CCB sources said.
The police also arrested Mosin Pasha, who had allegedly been absconding in connection with cases involving fights and assaults. He was handed over to the J.J. Nagar police for further action.
Two men identified as Syed Jamal, 27, and Jamat, 23, were arrested for allegedly selling narcotic substances. The J.J. Nagar police were instructed to register cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and conduct an investigation, according to the report.
The operation also resulted in cases being registered against 10 people for violating the law in a public place. The CCB did not provide further details in the report about the documents seized, the specific substances allegedly recovered, or the next legal steps in each case.
The operation highlights the role of coordinated police checks in neighbourhood-level crime control, combining searches of people identified by police records with vehicle inspections, checks at commercial establishments and action against alleged drug-related activity. Further proceedings will be handled by the J.J. Nagar police in the cases transferred to the station.
