Ahmedabad Metro will operate until 2 am from 14 to 19 October to help passengers returning from late-night Navratri celebrations, extending the regular service window beyond 11 pm, according to a schedule issued by the Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC).
The extended Ahmedabad Metro Navratri service is intended to provide an additional public transport option for people travelling home after attending garba events. Under the regular schedule described in the report, metro services operate from 6.20 am to 11 pm. During the six-day Navratri period, services will continue from 11 pm until 2 am.
GMRC’s schedule covers three route arrangements. Trains between Vastral Gam and Thaltej Gam will run at intervals of 30 minutes. The APMC–Koteshwar Road route will also have services every 30 minutes, while trains between APMC and Sector-1 will operate at intervals of 60 minutes.
The extended operation is designed around the late-night travel pattern created by Navratri, when residents may remain away from home until the early hours. The additional services give passengers travelling on these corridors an alternative to private vehicles and other transport options during the festival period.
GMRC will issue a special paper ticket priced at Rs 50 during the extended operating hours. The ticket will be available at metro stations and can be used by one passenger. The report does not specify whether the ticket is valid for a single journey or across multiple route segments, so passengers should confirm the applicable terms at the station before travelling.
The timing extension also places emphasis on the final operating window rather than only on daytime frequency. Passengers planning to use the metro after midnight will need to account for the route-specific intervals, particularly on the APMC–Sector-1 corridor, where services are scheduled once every hour.
For commuters, the arrangement links festival travel with Ahmedabad’s existing east-west and north-south metro corridors. It may also reduce dependence on private vehicles for those whose destinations fall along the extended routes, although the available service remains limited to the corridors and timings announced by GMRC.
The special schedule will remain in force from 14 October through 19 October. Regular service timings are expected to apply outside the announced Navratri extension unless GMRC issues a further update.
