Two separate hit-and-run crashes in Ahmedabad’s Saijpur Bogha and Piplaj areas have killed two people and left another seriously injured, with police registering cases against unidentified drivers and beginning investigations.
In the first incident, 54-year-old Arvindbhai Pannalal Parmar was walking from Saijpur Tower towards G.D. Three Roads on the evening of October 11 when an unidentified Chhota Hathi vehicle allegedly struck him from behind near Bhagwati Doodhghar. The driver fled the scene after the collision.
Arvindbhai suffered serious injuries to his head and other parts of his body. His younger brother, Vishnubhai, reached the spot after learning about the crash and found him unconscious. He was taken to Civil Hospital in a 108 ambulance, but doctors declared him dead during treatment on October 14.
A complaint against the unidentified Chhota Hathi driver was filed at the G Traffic Police Station after Arvindbhai’s funeral. Police are investigating the circumstances of the crash and working to identify the vehicle and its driver.
The second incident occurred near Piplaj on the afternoon of October 19. Dipukumar Ramchandra Chauhan, 33, and his friend Gautamsingh Krishnagopal Rajput, 36, were travelling by motorcycle from Piplaj towards Motipura Crossroads. When they reached the crossroads near Nakoda Company, an unidentified Tata 407 tempo travelling from the opposite direction collided with the motorcycle.
Both riders fell onto the road after the impact. The tempo’s tyre ran over Dipukumar’s chest and abdomen, causing critical injuries. A 108 ambulance worker declared him dead at the scene. Gautamsingh suffered injuries to his head and left leg and was taken to hospital for treatment.
Dipukumar’s brother, Mansingh Chauhan, reached the location after being informed about the crash. He later filed a complaint against the tempo driver at V.S. Hospital, according to the report. The driver allegedly left the scene after the collision.
The two incidents occurred at different locations and involved different types of commercial vehicles, but both cases share the same immediate concern: the drivers allegedly fled after crashes that caused fatal or serious injuries. Police have registered cases against the unidentified drivers and are conducting further investigations.
The cases will depend on the police investigation to establish the sequence of events, identify the vehicles and determine the responsibility of the drivers. No further details about arrests or vehicle recoveries were provided in the report.
