Ahmedabad police have seized MD drugs allegedly being moved through a Porter delivery parcel after a delivery worker raised an alarm over a suspicious consignment linked to the Gota area. Police have registered a case against the person who sent the parcel and the intended recipient, while investigating the wider network behind the shipment.
According to Gujarat Samachar – Ahmedabad, Porter delivery worker Vasant Solanki received an order to transport a parcel towards Gota. He became suspicious after receiving a call from a number linked to Satish Saraniya asking him to come to Nana Chiloda. The report said unidentified orders were also appearing through Saraniya’s Porter identity despite him not placing them.
Solanki contacted a Porter driver and called him to Nana Chiloda to verify the consignment. When they checked the parcel, they found a small packet containing what was identified as MD drugs. The delivery worker did not hand over the parcel and instead contacted the police control room on the emergency number 100.
Naroda police reached the location after receiving the control-room message and seized drugs valued at approximately ₹1,500, the report said. Police subsequently traced information relating to the sender and the person expected to receive the consignment in Gota.
The report identified the recipient as Priyank Vasantbhai Sanghvi, 27, who was brought in for questioning. It said the Porter driver was considered innocent in the matter because he had been carrying the parcel as part of his delivery work. The report also stated that action against the person who sent and received the goods was pending at the time of publication.
Police are investigating where the drugs came from, who packed the packet and whom it was ultimately intended for. Preliminary questioning reportedly indicated that the consignment may have been passed on to another person, although the identity and role of that person had not been established in the supplied report.
The incident highlights how app-based delivery and porter services can become part of the movement of suspicious parcels, while also showing the role of frontline delivery workers in reporting potential criminal activity. The police investigation into the sender, recipient and possible wider network is continuing.
