The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation carried out a large demolition and encroachment-removal drive across Naranpura, Ranip, Paldi and Nava Vadaj, removing commercial shops, houses and other structures from reserved plots and town-planning roads. The operation also included action against sheds, vehicles and unauthorised advertisements in the civic body’s eastern zone.
In Naranpura’s Rannapark area, the AMC removed six permanent commercial shops occupying about 350 square metres of reserved Final Plot No. 592 under the second variation of Town Planning Scheme No. 29. The corporation subsequently took possession of the reserved plot.
The civic body also cleared 19 kutcha and permanent structures from Final Plot No. 295/1 in Ranip. The plot, measuring 2,804 square metres, falls under Preliminary Town Planning Scheme No. 66 covering Ranip, Chenpur and Chandlodia. The removal enabled the corporation to take control of the reserved land.
In Paldi, AMC teams removed approximately 60 to 65 kutcha and permanent houses and huts along the 12-metre town-planning road between the Ganesh Awas Yojana area near Bhudarpura and Shreyas Metro station. The operation opened an approximately 60-metre stretch of the road, according to the report.
A permanent ramp-like structure measuring about 15 square metres was removed from the 18-metre town-planning road connecting Shantaram Hall with Nirnaynagar in Nava Vadaj. The action opened around 10 metres of the road, the report said.
The operation covered both reserved land and planned road corridors, areas where encroachments can affect the implementation of town-planning layouts and access to civic infrastructure. The reported action did not provide details on rehabilitation, notices issued to occupants or the legal status of the structures removed.
The AMC also conducted an enforcement drive in the eastern zone. Six sheds were removed, while 31 handcarts, one vehicle, one cart, 15 weighing scales, 30 crates, 10 cots, 45 boards or banners and 125 other items were seized. Officials locked 41 vehicles and collected a total of ₹26,900 in administrative charges. This included ₹7,000 for encroachment-related action, ₹2,500 for unauthorised advertising and ₹17,400 in vehicle-related administrative charges.
The corporation’s reported next step is to retain control of the cleared reserved plots and open sections of the affected town-planning roads following the demolition and enforcement operations.
