Delhi’s voter list revision has disposed of around 1.15 lakh applications for inclusion in the electoral rolls, while 47.5 lakh names removed from the draft rolls are set to undergo reverification, officials said. The figures cover the period from August 31 to October 20 and remain provisional because constituency-wise data for all 70 Assembly segments has not yet been fully uploaded on the Delhi Chief Electoral Officer’s website.
The applications were filed through Form 6, which is used by eligible citizens, including first-time voters and people whose names are missing from electoral rolls, to seek enrolment. Officials said 4,56,913 Form 6 applications had been received by October 20. Of these, 2,12,400 were submitted by August 30, while another 2,44,513 were received between August 31 and October 20.
“ Around 1.15 lakh applications were disposed of between August 31 and October 20,” an official said. The disposal figure is part of the ongoing verification and updating exercise under SIR, which entered its final phase after the draft electoral rolls were published on August 31.
The draft rolls contained 97.53 lakh electors, compared with 1.45 crore voters before the revision. Around 47.5 lakh names were removed and placed in the Absent, Shifted, Dead and Duplicate, or ASDD, categories. The deleted records included around 43.3 lakh voters marked absent or permanently shifted, 2.82 lakh records classified as deceased and 1.41 lakh identified as duplicates.
The scale of the revision means that the disposal of new enrolment applications is taking place alongside a separate process to verify records that were removed from the draft rolls. Officials said Booth Level Officers, or BLOs, would reverify all 47.5 lakh deleted names. More than 80 per cent of 33.12 lakh flagged voter records had already been resolved, according to the report.
Verification progress has differed sharply across constituencies. In Okhla, officials could verify the details of only 54.6 per cent of existing electors. The corresponding figures were 44.5 per cent in R K Puram and 44 per cent in Kasturba Nagar. These constituency-level differences leave the status of a substantial number of records dependent on the remaining verification work.
The Form 6 figures also show that applications continued to arrive after the draft rolls were issued. Of the total applications received by October 20, more than half—2,44,513—were submitted after August 31. Their disposal will determine how many eligible residents are added to the updated rolls, while the reverification of deleted names will determine whether voters classified under the ASDD categories are restored.
Officials have not yet completed the constituency-wise upload and updating of disposal data on the Delhi CEO’s website. The next stage of the exercise is the reverification of the 47.5 lakh deleted names, alongside the continued processing of Form 6 applications.
