Delhi’s voter-roll revision has disposed of around 1.15 lakh Form 6 applications since the draft electoral rolls were published on August 31, while officials prepare to reverify 47.5 lakh names removed from the rolls and placed in the Absent, Shifted, Dead and Duplicate categories.

A total of 4,56,913 Form 6 applications seeking inclusion in Delhi’s electoral rolls were received up to October 20, according to officials. Of these, 2,12,400 applications were submitted by August 30 and another 2,44,513 were received between August 31 and October 20.

Form 6 is used by eligible citizens, including first-time voters and people whose names are missing from the electoral rolls, to apply for enrolment. Officials said around 1.15 lakh applications were disposed of between August 31 and October 20. The figures remain provisional because constituency-wise data for all 70 Assembly segments had not yet been uploaded and updated on the website of the Delhi Chief Electoral Officer.

The draft rolls published on August 31 contained 97.53 lakh electors, compared with 1.45 crore names on the rolls before the revision. Around 47.5 lakh names were removed and categorised as absent, permanently shifted, deceased or duplicate voters.

Of the deleted records, approximately 43.3 lakh were marked as absent or permanently shifted, 2.82 lakh as deceased and 1.41 lakh as duplicate voters. The scale of the revision means that the enrolment process is operating alongside a large verification exercise involving existing electors whose names were removed from the draft rolls.

Officials said more than 80 per cent of 33.12 lakh flagged voter records had been resolved. Booth-level officers will reverify the 47.5 lakh deleted names as the exercise moves towards its final phase.

The extent of verification has varied across constituencies. In Okhla, details could be verified for 54.6 per cent of existing electors, while the corresponding figures were 44.5 per cent in R K Puram and 44 per cent in Kasturba Nagar. These constituency-level variations are part of the provisional data being updated by the Delhi Chief Electoral Officer.

The administration’s immediate task is to complete the disposal of pending Form 6 applications, update constituency-wise figures and conduct the announced reverification of deleted names. The final status of the electoral rolls will depend on these remaining verification and data-upload processes.
