Adani Green Energy reported a 16 per cent year-on-year increase in consolidated profit after tax to ₹747 crore for the second quarter of FY27, as higher power supply revenue and capacity additions lifted operating performance across its renewable energy portfolio.

Revenue from power supply rose 45 per cent year-on-year to ₹4,019 crore during the quarter, while power supply EBITDA increased 51 per cent to ₹3,835 crore, according to the company’s results. Energy sales grew 33 per cent to 12,090 million units, supported by generation from its solar, wind and hybrid projects.

The company’s operational renewable energy portfolio expanded 24 per cent year-on-year to 20.8 GW by the end of September 2026. Adani Green added 4,083 MW of capacity during the period, comprising 2,957 MW of solar capacity, 805 MW of wind capacity and 321 MW of solar-wind hybrid capacity.

A substantial share of the additions came at the Khavda renewable energy project in Gujarat. Operational capacity at the site increased to 10.8 GW from 7.1 GW a year earlier. This includes 10,002 MW of Adani Green’s generation capacity and 750 MW established for other Adani Group companies.

The company also expanded its battery energy storage system capacity at Khavda by 3,081 MWh during the September quarter, taking cumulative operational storage capacity to 6,632 MWh. Ashish Khanna, chief executive officer of Adani Green Energy, said the company had reached 6.63 GWh of operational battery storage at Khavda, which he described as the world’s largest single-location battery storage installation.

Khanna said Adani Green was India’s largest battery energy storage system operator and accounted for more than half of the country’s operational capacity. The company said the storage expansion would improve flexibility in managing renewable generation and help address curtailment challenges at Khavda. It also said it could exceed its FY27 guidance of 10 GWh of battery storage capacity if additions continue at the current pace.

The expansion highlights the growing role of storage in renewable infrastructure, where electricity generation from solar and wind varies according to weather and time of day. However, Khanna also said the company was closely monitoring the availability of transmission infrastructure, an operational consideration for large renewable energy projects.

For the first half of FY27, Adani Green’s power supply revenue increased 36 per cent year-on-year to ₹8,299 crore. Power supply EBITDA rose 41 per cent to ₹7,957 crore, while cash profit increased 35 per cent to ₹4,176 crore.

The company invested approximately ₹17,160 crore in capital expenditure during the first half of FY27, 38 per cent higher than a year earlier. Its net debt to run-rate EBITDA stood at 5.6 times. The company’s reported expansion will therefore depend not only on generation capacity but also on the continued deployment of storage, transmission infrastructure and capital at its large renewable energy sites.
