Delhi Police Freezes Rs 3.72 Crore in Narcotics Probe

Delhi Police narcotics probe involving a financial investigation and seized contraband

Delhi Police has secured freezing orders for illicit cash proceeds worth Rs 3.72 crore in a narcotics investigation linked to the Okhla Industrial Area, in what the force described as the highest such amount since the Competent Authority for North India was established in 1976. Eight alleged members of the supply network have been arrested and around 1.383 kg of smack seized, police said.

The case began with an FIR registered at the Okhla Industrial Area police station under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. According to the police, investigators first apprehended local drug peddlers and then traced links to intermediaries, suppliers and major stockists allegedly operating from Faridabad in Haryana.

The accused have been identified as Kiran alias Ram Prashad, Neeraj alias Thapa, Ashok alias Ramu, Maniya alias Suman Pathak, Vicky, Guddu, Sunit alias Nanhe and Gopi Singh. The police said the investigation established an illicit cash trail amounting to Rs 3,71,98,560.

Freezing orders were obtained from the competent authority to prevent the suspected proceeds from being disposed of or transferred. The police said the action is intended to disrupt the alleged narcotics network’s financial operations, in addition to the arrests and seizure of drugs.

A copy of the freezing order has been handed over to Sunit alias Nanhe, according to the police. Gopi Singh is currently lodged in Faridabad jail in connection with a separate case registered in Haryana, and the order will be conveyed to him through the concerned jail authorities.

The financial action extends the investigation beyond the alleged street-level distribution identified in the Okhla area. The police said the probe remains ongoing to trace the complete financial trail, identify additional assets and establish further links within the alleged drug supply network. The allegations remain subject to the legal process.
