Telangana AEE Exam Clash Threatens Candidates’ SSC-JE Chance

Engineering aspirants in Telangana have urged the Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC) to reschedule the Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) Roads and Buildings examination after its November 6 session was found to overlap with the Staff Selection Commission’s Junior Engineer (SSC JE) examination.

The TGPSC AEE (Civil) computer-based examination is scheduled for November 6 and 7, while SSC JE Paper I is scheduled from November 2 to 6, according to the examination schedules cited by Deccan Chronicle. Candidates allotted November 6 for the SSC examination face a direct clash between the two tests.

Aspirants protesting outside the TGPSC office in Hyderabad said several engineering graduates, particularly civil engineers, had applied for both examinations. The two recruitment processes offer opportunities in state and central government departments, prompting candidates to prepare for both while keeping their employment options open.

“We have been preparing for both examinations to keep our options open for government jobs. It is unfair to lose an opportunity because the examinations are scheduled on the same day,” Govardhana, an aspirant, was quoted as saying.

Candidates said the overlapping schedules could force them to miss one examination despite months of preparation. They have asked the TGPSC to coordinate with the SSC and change the AEE examination date so that candidates allotted November 6 for SSC JE can appear for both tests.

The issue highlights the practical consequences of separate recruitment agencies finalising examination calendars without sufficient coordination. The affected candidate pool includes civil engineering graduates who commonly apply for technical posts across different levels of government. For these candidates, a one-day overlap can eliminate access to an entire recruitment process rather than merely create a scheduling inconvenience.

Another aspirant, Ramya, said recruitment agencies should coordinate their examination calendars before fixing dates, particularly when the same pool of engineering graduates applies for both tests. The candidates have appealed to the TGPSC to resolve the matter at the earliest and ensure that applicants get an opportunity to compete for both posts.

The report did not specify whether the TGPSC or the SSC had announced any change to the examination schedules. The AEE examination remains scheduled for November 6 and 7, while SSC JE Paper I remains scheduled through November 6 in the dates cited by the report.
