TGSPDCL Promises Faster Power Fixes for Telangana Industries

TGSPDCL power issues discussed at an industrial stakeholder meeting in Hyderabad

TGSPDCL has promised faster action on electricity-related problems raised by industries, including supply reliability, tariff concerns, delayed payment surcharges, solar generation and net metering. The assurance was given by CMD Jitesh V. Patil during the sixth stakeholders’ meeting held at the FTCCI Surana Auditorium at Federation House in Hyderabad on Saturday.

Patil interacted with representatives of various industries and discussed operational requirements affecting the industrial sector. He said Telangana Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGSPDCL) would review the concerns raised by industry representatives and take necessary steps to resolve them.

The meeting focused on the reliability of power supply and the way electricity-related issues are handled for industrial consumers. Representatives also discussed tariff-related matters and the reduction of delayed payment surcharges, which can increase the financial burden on businesses when electricity dues remain unpaid beyond the prescribed period.

Solar power generation and net metering were among the other subjects taken up at the meeting. Net metering allows eligible consumers generating electricity through rooftop or other approved solar systems to account for electricity supplied to the grid, subject to the applicable regulatory framework. The discussions indicate that industrial users are seeking clearer and more effective handling of issues linked to both conventional supply and distributed energy systems.

The appointment of dedicated relationship managers for High Tension industrial consumers was also discussed. HT consumers typically draw electricity at higher voltage levels and have more complex supply, billing and service requirements than ordinary low-voltage connections. A dedicated point of contact could help route operational complaints and follow up on pending matters, although the meeting account did not specify whether such appointments have been finalised.

TGSPDCL and industry representatives also reviewed the progress of pending issues raised during the previous stakeholders’ meeting. Further action plans and timelines for resolving those matters were discussed, but specific deadlines or case-wise outcomes were not disclosed.

Patil said continuous dialogue and coordination between the power department and industries would help identify problems at an early stage and facilitate their timely resolution. He added that TGSPDCL would continue to consider suggestions and feedback from industry representatives while working to make the power supply system more efficient and reliable.

The meeting placed responsibility for resolving industrial electricity concerns on coordinated action between the power department, industrial associations and individual businesses. The next steps will depend on the action plans and timelines discussed for pending issues, along with TGSPDCL’s follow-up on supply reliability, tariff matters, solar power and dedicated support for HT consumers.
