Job aspirants protested outside the Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC) office in Hyderabad on Saturday, demanding that the recruitment examination for Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) posts in the Roads and Buildings department be postponed because it clashes with the Staff Selection Commission’s junior engineer recruitment test.
The protesters said both examinations are scheduled for November 6, creating a conflict for candidates with civil engineering backgrounds who prepare for and appear for both tests. They squatted in front of the TGPSC office and called on the Commission to immediately change the AEE examination date.
According to the protesters, they have been visiting the TGPSC office for the past 10 days to request a rescheduling of the examination. They said the Commission had not provided a positive response to their requests, increasing concerns that candidates would be forced to miss one of the two recruitment tests.
The dispute highlights the practical difficulties faced by candidates competing for technical government posts when examinations with overlapping eligibility requirements are conducted on the same day. Candidates with civil engineering qualifications may be eligible for both the TGPSC AEE recruitment examination and the SSC junior engineer test, according to the report.
The protesters’ demand is focused on avoiding the loss of an examination opportunity rather than seeking a change in eligibility or selection criteria. They argued that appearing for both tests is not possible if the examinations remain scheduled simultaneously on November 6.
The TGPSC has not, according to the supplied report, announced a revised date for the AEE examination or issued a positive response to the candidates’ request. The unemployed youth have asked the Commission to respond immediately and postpone the examination.
