TGSRTC is planning a new Pushpak luxury air-conditioned bus service from Patancheru to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) at Shamshabad, a move that could improve airport access for residents, workers and families travelling from western Hyderabad. The service is expected to be launched in the coming months, although the final date, fares, frequency and boarding points have not yet been announced.
According to TGSRTC authorities, the proposed Hyderabad airport bus route will connect Patancheru with several important residential and employment areas, including Lingampally, Nallagandla, Gopanpally, Gowlidoddi, the Financial District, Kokapet and Narsingi. From Narsingi, the buses are expected to use the Outer Ring Road to reach RGIA.
The planned alignment would link a fast-growing western corridor with Hyderabad’s international airport. The areas along the route include established neighbourhoods, expanding residential communities and major information technology and commercial hubs. TGSRTC said the service is intended particularly to help IT professionals, frequent flyers, business travellers and residents who need transport for early-morning or late-night flights.
The proposed service would also provide an alternative to private taxis, which reportedly charge between Rs 1,300 and Rs 1,800 for airport trips from Patancheru and nearby areas, especially during peak hours and late at night. TGSRTC officials expect the Pushpak buses to offer a more economical option for both individual passengers and families travelling together.
The corporation may deploy dedicated luxury buses for the route. TGSRTC currently operates a fleet of 55 Pushpak buses on existing airport services, and additional buses would be required for the proposed expansion without affecting current operations. The number of vehicles to be assigned to the Patancheru-RGIA service has not been specified.
The proposed route reflects the growing transport demand created by the expansion of residential and commercial development between Patancheru and the Financial District. While the corridor has gained new employment centres and housing communities, airport travel from its western end remains heavily dependent on private vehicles and app-based or private taxis. A direct public bus connection could widen access to airport travel for passengers who do not want to bear high cab fares.
However, the proposal is not yet an operational service. TGSRTC has not announced the precise stops, timetable, ticket prices or launch date. These details will determine how useful the route is for residents across the corridor, particularly passengers travelling outside regular office hours.
The corporation’s next steps are expected to involve finalising the route plan, deploying additional Pushpak buses and announcing the service schedule and fares before the launch.
