Hyderabad’s SRAHE Gets Deemed University Status, Targets Deep Tech

SRAHE deemed university campus concept in Hyderabad’s Medchal district

SR Academy of Higher Education (SRAHE), located at Rampally Dayara in Keesara mandal of Medchal district, has been granted deemed-to-be university status by the Union Ministry of Education, its chairman and chancellor A. Varada Reddy said at a media briefing in Hyderabad.

The institution plans to offer undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes in engineering, technology, business and management. It also intends to develop programmes in artificial intelligence, semiconductor design, quantum computing, digital twins, advanced robotics and allied health sciences.

Reddy said SRAHE would be positioned as an applied innovation hub connected to Hyderabad’s deep-tech and life-sciences ecosystem. The proposed academic model will bring together engineering, healthcare, computer science and heritage preservation, with artificial intelligence and other emerging digital technologies forming a central part of the curriculum.

According to the institution, its proposed programmes are aligned with national initiatives including the India Semiconductor Mission and the National Quantum Mission. SRAHE said it aims to generate patents, incubate deep-tech start-ups and develop locally relevant hardware solutions, rather than focus only on awarding degrees.

The institution also plans to combine allied health sciences with AI-driven diagnostics, bioinformatics and robotic surgery training. These programmes are expected to connect healthcare education with technology-focused learning, although details on course launches, student intake, faculty recruitment and timelines were not provided in the announcement.

In line with the National Education Policy 2020, students are expected to combine classroom education with industry projects, internships and entrepreneurship opportunities. The stated approach places the institution within a wider effort to connect higher education with research, technology development and industry requirements.

SRAHE is the latest institution established by the SR Educational Academy, which Reddy said has set up more than 200 educational institutions across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka over the past five decades. The new university is located in Medchal district, on Hyderabad’s expanding northern and eastern urban periphery, where educational and technology-related institutions are becoming part of the region’s broader development landscape.

The announcement was made in the presence of SR University, Warangal, Vice-Chancellor Deepak Garg and others, according to a press release. The institution’s next steps will include detailing its programme structure and operational plans for the proposed university.
