Bengaluru Metro Extends Services for India-West Indies T20

Bengaluru Metro train and station serving cricket spectators near Chinnaswamy Stadium

Bengaluru Metro services will run later than usual for the India-West Indies T20 match at M Chinnaswamy Stadium on October 17, allowing spectators to travel after the game and connect with the city’s major terminal stations. The extended operations will continue until the early hours of the following day, according to details attributed to Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) authorities.

The last trains from the Whitefield, Challaghatta and Bommasandra terminals will depart at midnight. Services from the Silk Institute and Madavara terminals will leave at 12.15 am, while the last train from RV Road will depart at 1.30 am.

From Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Station, Majestic, the last metro trains to all four directions will operate at 1 am. BMRCL has extended the service window to support passengers leaving the stadium after the match and to provide connections towards different parts of Bengaluru.

The metro QR code has been integrated into the digital T20 match tickets. Spectators have been advised to select their metro station based on the entry or exit gate mentioned for their stadium access. Those using the gates along Cubbon Road have been advised to use Cubbon Park Metro station, while spectators entering or exiting through the Link Road gates have been advised to use the nearby Mahatma Gandhi Road Metro station.

The station guidance is relevant because the two stations serve different sides of the stadium area. Matching the metro station to the designated stadium gate is intended to help passengers avoid unnecessary movement around the venue after the match and distribute the crowd between the available access points.

BMRCL authorities have also said that station entry may be regulated or temporarily closed if required in the interest of passenger safety and security. The statement leaves room for operational changes depending on crowd movement and security conditions around the stadium.

The extended timetable covers departures from the network’s terminal stations as well as the interchange at Majestic. Spectators will need to account for the time required to leave the stadium, reach the recommended station and complete entry procedures before the final trains depart. BMRCL’s advisory is the current basis for the revised services for the October 17 match.
