Namma Metro late-night services will run beyond the usual 11 p.m. schedule for spectators attending the T20 cricket match in Bengaluru on October 17, with the last trains from select terminal stations departing as late as 1.30 a.m. on Sunday, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) said in a press release issued on Friday.
The extended services are intended to facilitate the movement of spectators after the match. BMRCL has also embedded QR codes for two-way Namma Metro journeys in digital match tickets, allowing ticket holders to use the metro for their onward and return travel.
The last train from Whitefield (Kadugodi) will depart at midnight, while the final service from Challaghatta will leave at 12.15 a.m. On the Green Line, trains from Silk Institute and Madavara will depart at 12.15 a.m. The last train on the Yellow Line from Bommasandra will leave at midnight, while the service from R.V. Road will depart at 1.30 a.m.
BMRCL said the last train from Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Station, Majestic, towards all four directions would depart at 1 a.m. The station is a key interchange point in the network and will serve as the central transfer point for passengers travelling towards different corridors after the match.
The metro corporation has asked spectators to select stations according to the gates they use to enter the stadium. Those entering through gates on Cubbon Road have been advised to use Cubbon Park Metro station. Spectators accessing the stadium through gates on Link Road have been advised to use Mahatma Gandhi Road Metro station, which is the closest station to those gates.
The gate-specific advice is intended to distribute passenger movement between nearby stations and reduce avoidable crowding around the stadium approaches. It also links the digital match ticket, the passenger’s likely entry route and the return journey through the metro system.
The extended timetable covers the terminal stations identified by BMRCL and does not represent a blanket extension of every service across the network. Passengers will need to account for the last departure from their relevant terminal station and the final connecting service from Majestic.
BMRCL said it reserves the right to regulate or temporarily close station entry points in the interest of passenger safety and security. The corporation’s announcement does not specify whether road traffic restrictions or additional bus services will be introduced around the stadium. For metro users, the next operational milestone is the extended service schedule after the October 17 match, with final departures continuing into the early hours of Sunday.
