Indiramma Houses: 480 Pocharam Homes Promised by Next Dasara

Indiramma houses project site in Pocharam for 480 Telangana housing beneficiaries

The first phase of 480 Indiramma houses sanctioned for beneficiaries in Pocharam, in Telangana’s Ghatkesar mandal, will be completed and handed over by the next Dasara, IT and Industries Minister and Ranga Reddy district in-charge Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu said on Wednesday.

Speaking at the foundation-laying ceremony for the houses, Sridhar Babu said the government would complete all homes sanctioned in the first phase within a year. He said delays in house construction seen under the previous government would not be repeated and that the present administration was committed to providing permanent homes to poor families within the stipulated timeframe.

The minister also assured beneficiaries that essential infrastructure would be provided at the Indiramma Towers. This would include roads, drinking water facilities and lifts, with the services to be made available within the project deadline. Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, local MP Eatala Rajender, Medchal MLA Mallareddy and MLC Patnam Mahender Reddy attended the programme, according to the report.

Sridhar Babu said the houses were being constructed within the respective constituencies of eligible beneficiaries, allowing homeless families to receive homes in their own areas. He described the location as valuable, pointing to high property prices in Pocharam. According to his statement, a single-bedroom flat in the area could cost around ₹40 lakh, while eligible beneficiaries would receive homes of considerable value after contributing ₹6 lakh.

The minister said beneficiary selection was being conducted through a lottery system to eliminate human intervention and ensure transparency. The government’s first phase of the Indiramma housing programme has a target of 25 lakh houses across Telangana, with homes to be provided to eligible homeless families in stages.

The announcement places the delivery of the Pocharam houses against a wider state housing commitment. Sridhar Babu said Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy had made the programme a major mission focused on the housing needs of homeless families. He also referred to other welfare measures, including free electricity for households consuming up to 200 units a month and the distribution of six kilograms of fine-quality rice per person to white ration cardholders.

The next stated milestone for the Pocharam beneficiaries is completion and handover by the next Dasara. The government has also said that roads, drinking water facilities and lifts for the Indiramma Towers will be delivered within the same stipulated period.
