Bengaluru Protest Targets Gaps in Government School Infrastructure

Government school infrastructure with a classroom building and essential student facilities in Bengaluru

Women will hold a protest at Freedom Park in Bengaluru on November 26 demanding the immediate filling of vacant teacher posts in government schools and improvements to basic school infrastructure, according to the Government School Development Forum.

Forum president Vidya Patil said the protest would seek action on vacancies as well as the provision of clean drinking water, toilets, playgrounds and libraries in government schools. The announcement was made in Raichur, as reported by Prajavani.

The demands place staffing and physical facilities together at the centre of the campaign. While vacant teaching positions affect classroom capacity, the listed infrastructure requirements cover essential services and spaces used by students during the school day. The report did not specify the number of vacant posts, the schools affected or the districts covered by the demands.

Patil said the protest would take place at Freedom Park, a regular venue for public demonstrations in Bengaluru. The report did not include a response from the state education department or provide details of any meeting scheduled with government representatives.

Mahantesh Bagalkot, Mallesh Chitradurga, Shailaja Vijayanagara, Swapnadeepa Bidar and Basavaraj Gattur were present when the announcement was made. The organisers have identified November 26 as the date for the Bengaluru protest.
