The Mysuru panchayat reservation list for 46 Zilla Panchayat constituencies and 163 Taluk Panchayat seats has been released in draft form, giving residents and other stakeholders until October 19 to submit objections with supporting documents.
The draft notification was issued by the Karnataka Department of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj on Friday. It covers nine Taluk Panchayats in Mysuru district and assigns seats across general, women, Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Backward Class categories.
Objections must reach the Secretary of the Panchayat Raj Department by 5 pm on October 19. Submissions have to be sent with supporting documents to the Secretary (Panchayat Raj), Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, Vidhana Soudha or Multi-storeyed Building complex address specified in the notification: Multi-storeyed Building, 3rd Stage, 3rd Floor, Dr Ambedkar Veedhi, Bengaluru–560001.
The reservation exercise covers constituencies in Mysuru, T Narasipura, Nanjangud, Hunsur, K R Nagar, Saligrama, Periyapatna, H D Kote and Saragur Taluk Panchayats. The draft also includes women-specific reservations within the general, Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Backward Class categories.
At the Zilla Panchayat level, examples of seats reserved for women include Udbur and Kalale for Scheduled Tribes, Siddalingapur for Backward Class-A, Harohalli (Mellahalli), Turuganur and Sosale for Scheduled Castes, and Somanathapura and Badanavalu under the general category. Other constituencies, including Ilavala, Jayapura, Varuna, Moogur and Thandavapura, have been marked as general seats in the draft.
The Taluk Panchayat list similarly assigns categories across rural constituencies. In Mysuru Taluk, seats such as Udbur and Marballi have been assigned to Scheduled Tribes, while several constituencies have been reserved for women under the general, Scheduled Caste and Backward Class categories. The published list also covers constituencies in the district’s tribal and rural belts, including H D Kote and Saragur.
The notification follows a preliminary notification issued on October 7 for category-wise reservation of seats in the district and Taluk Panchayats. Since the current list is a draft, the objections process allows affected residents and stakeholders to submit corrections or representations before the reservation is finalised.
The department has set October 19, 5 pm, as the deadline for receiving objections. The supplied notification does not state when the final reservation list will be issued.
