Vayona Energy has unveiled its new 5 MW wind turbine platform, the Vayona 5.0/193, at Windergy India 2026 in Chennai, expanding its product portfolio for projects operating across India’s varied wind and climate conditions.
The onshore wind turbine was developed in collaboration with Germany’s Aerovide GmbH. Vayona said the platform combines German design and engineering expertise with its Indian manufacturing capabilities, project execution experience and lifecycle service network.
The turbine features a 193-metre rotor and is being developed to increase energy capture at sites with low and ultra-low wind conditions. It is also designed to operate in high-temperature environments, reflecting the range of operating conditions faced by wind projects across the country.
The company said the platform is intended to be manufactured in India through a local supply chain for major components. Its entry into the 5 MW segment gives Vayona an additional product for larger and more technically demanding wind projects, alongside its existing 3X platform.
Prashant Jain, executive vice-chairman of Vayona Energy, said the next phase of India’s wind growth would require technology capable of unlocking more sites, improving project economics and operating reliably under demanding conditions. He described the Vayona 5.0/193 as a step towards building advanced wind technology and manufacturing capacity in India.
Pritesh Vinay, chief executive officer of Vayona Energy, said the turbine was being developed around lifetime energy delivery and operational reliability. According to Vinay, its large rotor, high-temperature design, site-specific configuration and maintenance-friendly architecture are intended to support stronger energy capture, dependable operations and competitive lifecycle economics.
The platform will use digital twin-enabled wind turbines linked to Vayona’s in-house Remote Operations Centre. The company said this system is intended to support continuous performance monitoring, early identification of emerging issues and more predictive maintenance. It is also designed to improve turbine availability and enable timely field interventions during the asset’s operating life.
Vayona said the platform can be used for standalone wind projects, wind-solar hybrid projects, firm and dispatchable renewable-energy solutions, and projects supplying renewable power to commercial and industrial customers. These applications place the turbine within a wider shift towards renewable projects that combine generation capacity with more predictable power delivery.
The launch follows several milestones for Vayona during its first year, including the restart of manufacturing operations, the securing of new orders and the production of its first blade. The company said the addition of the 5.0/193 broadens its ability to address different wind-energy requirements.
The next stage will involve the platform’s development and deployment through Vayona’s manufacturing, project execution and service operations. The company has not disclosed a commercial delivery schedule or project-specific order details in the announcement.
