Agartala’s newly announced Rapid Response Team has received 10 AI-enabled vehicles to address civic complaints and service issues across the Agartala Municipal Corporation area, with the Tripura government investing Rs 2.78 crore in the vehicles and truck-mounted water tankers.
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha flagged off the fleet on Friday. The initiative also introduces a WhatsApp-based system through which residents can report complaints and make calls to the civic service platform. The government said the technology and on-ground resources are intended to speed up responses across all AMC zones.
The vehicles are equipped with what the government described as state-of-the-art facilities. They will be used by the Rapid Response Team to tackle civic challenges within the municipal corporation area, although the announcement did not specify the number of personnel assigned to the team or the response time targets that will apply to different categories of complaints.
Saha said the introduction of a calling facility and an AI-driven response mechanism was aimed at transforming the municipal corporation into a “zero complaint” zone. He described the initiative as the first rollout of such services in Tripura and said it would provide residents with an additional channel for raising civic issues.
“The initiative aims to bolster citizen-centric service delivery throughout all AMC zones,” Saha said. He also referred to the Amar Sarkar portal, which he said had been beneficial for Tripura residents. The new WhatsApp system is expected to operate alongside that existing digital platform, giving residents another route to communicate complaints and seek municipal responses.
The investment covers both the rapid-response vehicles and truck-mounted water tankers. The tankers are intended to strengthen the municipal corporation’s capacity to respond to water-related civic needs, though the government announcement did not provide details of their deployment areas, operating schedules or maintenance arrangements.
Alongside the vehicle launch, Saha laid the foundation stones for two water projects in Agartala. He said access to safe drinking water was essential to creating a citizen-friendly environment and that the government was committed to ensuring safe drinking water availability in every AMC ward.
The chief minister said the government was using advanced technology for infrastructure development and renovation and was working to improve civic facilities. The next operational milestone will be the deployment of the vehicles and the complaint-response system across the Agartala Municipal Corporation area.
