Railway passengers travelling through the Virar-Dahanu Road section on October 11, 2026, will face delays and altered train operations because of VNG EI commissioning work linked to the quadrupling project on the corridor. Six trains are scheduled to run between 30 minutes and one hour 45 minutes late, while the starting or terminating stations of three services will also be changed.
According to railway information reported by Gujarat Samachar, train number 19417, which normally operates from Borivali to Vatva, will begin its journey from Vapi. Train number 19001, running from Virar to Surat, will instead start from Valsad. In the opposite direction, train number 19002, operating from Surat to Virar, will terminate at Dahanu Road.
The six identified services affected by the work include the Bandra Terminus–Amritsar train 12925, which is expected to be delayed by one hour 30 minutes, and train 12216 between Bandra Terminus and Delhi Sarai Rohilla, which will run one hour 45 minutes late. Train 14708 from Dadar to Hanumangarh is expected to be delayed by 30 minutes.
Train 12480 between Bandra Terminus and Jodhpur will be delayed by one hour, while train 19217 from Bandra Terminus to Veraval and train 12933 from Bandra Terminus to Vadodara are each expected to run 30 minutes late. The timing changes are linked to technical work being carried out as part of the rail infrastructure expansion between Virar and Dahanu Road.
The railway work may also affect other services operating through the section. Some trains could be held for between 30 minutes and two-and-a-half hours, while several other services may run 30 to 40 minutes late. The report also said that 10 to 15 Mail and Express trains could experience delays of 15 to 20 minutes because of the operational impact of the work.
The Virar-Dahanu corridor is an important rail connection for passengers travelling between Mumbai’s northern suburban region, industrial areas in Palghar district and destinations in Gujarat. Changes to the origin or termination station can require passengers to make additional arrangements for reaching their intended boarding or destination point, particularly when services do not operate from their usual suburban terminal.
Passengers using the affected trains have been advised to plan their journeys in advance and check the latest railway operating information before leaving for the station. The altered schedules and short-termination arrangements apply to services affected by the commissioning work on October 11.
